The 2011 Manitoban Short Fiction Contest

Think you’re adept at story telling? Want to showcase your writing talents? Join in the fun and participate in the 2011 Manitoban Short Fiction Contest!

All submissions must be sent to artsculture@themanitoban.com under the subject line “Short Fiction Contest.” Deadline for all submissions is Dec. 16 @ midnight.

Rules + regulations:

Any and all entrants must be currently enrolled as a student at the University of Manitoba.

Submissions must be no shorter than 300 words, no longer than 1000 words total.

Submissions may take the form of various styles and genres but must ultimately be works of fiction; no opinion, commentary or non-fiction works.

The winner of the Short Fiction Contest will be selected over the period of the UofM holiday break by a panel of no less than three contest judges.

Winner: the winner of the 2011 Manitoban Short Fiction Contest will receive a 1st place prize package and have their piece featured in the Jan. 4 issue of the Manitoban. Second and third place runners-up will also have their entries featured in a future issue of the Manitoban.
