Storylines and schedules

The following schedule indicates all of the Bison games and events that are happening in September and early October. Season passes for all Bison home games start at $25 for students and staff and are available at the Answers booth and online.

Soccer
The women’s soccer team has another win under their belt as they beat the University of Victoria 2-1 on Saturday. Assisted by Caley Miskimmin, Paula Fast scored the first goal for the Bisons 16 minutes into the game and Desiree Scott then scored the other goal for the Bisons. Kendra Flock scored the only goal for the University of Victoria. On Sunday the Bisons continued their winning streak by beating Fraser Valley 4-0.

Cross country
The women’s cross country team placed second in the 6 km race this past weekend. Out of 22 teams, the individual Bison athletes placed well. Katrina Bruckschwaiger placed fourth with a time of 22:12.89, Melanie Gregoire placed sixth, Lacey Ginter placed 12th, Gina Tessmann placed 26th and Nicole Barrett placed 35th with a time of 24:07.39.

The men’s cross country team placed ninth overall in the 8 km race. Out of 20 teams, individual Bison results saw Colin Shepherd place 31st with a time of 27:10, Jason Redpath placed 41st, and Colin Barnett placed 51st with a time of 27:39.

Women’s hockey
The women’s hockey team was in North Dakota over the weekend where they lost one game and won the other. It was Rachele Bosc who scored the only goal for the Bisons in their first game against the Fighting Sioux. In the second match it was Tammy Brade who scored twice for the Bisons and Rachele Bosc who scored another goal.

Men’s hockey
The Bison men’s hockey team is undefeated in pre-season play. This past weekend they played Brock University twice. In the first game Jared Walker, Rick Wood, Greg Beller, and Mike Hellyer scored for the Bisons and in the second game Chris Benias, Rick Wood and Mike Hellyer helped the Bisons win. The Canada West season begins this weekend with Friday’s home game against Saskatchewan.

Men’s Volleyball
The Bison men’s volleyball team had a victorious weekend as they amassed some impressive wins against the University of Saskatchewan. Head coach Garth Pischke was recently the recipient of the Royal Canadian Legion Sports Foundation’s Coach, Athlete and Performer award. After 29 years as the Bison men’s volleyball coach, it is clear that his experience is a key factor in the success of the team.
