Got Something to Say?
Got Something to Say? Write for Comment!
The Comment Section is the Manitoban’s Hyde Park: a soap box for the community here at and around the U of M to express their opinions on issues from the local to the international! If you have an opinion, whatever it may be (free, of course, of slander and bigotry), then we’re here to amplify that opinion over our pages to the community at large! Intelligently debating issues of the day is part of what makes the University experience an exciting and challenging one. The Comment Section is the perfect place for you to explain your particular reality to others, or to argue for a vision of how we can make this world a better place. If you’ve got something to say, say it here!
Types of stories
Comment pieces can be on any topic, from campus politics to provincial policy, from national political squabbling to international conflicts. A concise argument with plentiful, well-sourced examples laid out over 800 words is what we’re looking for, and it doesn’t matter where you stand (if anywhere) on the political or social spectrum.
International comment
This year, I am pleased to announce that the Comment Section has an International coordinator, Sarah Khalil, who will be working with international students writing on issues from their home countries, as well as editing general articles of an international focus.
