Blogs / The warm side of the bed
An introduction
| 9/16/09
Ah, the first post in a new blog. So fresh, so clean. In the case of this particular blog, the possibilities for sullying the clean slate are endless. Shall I begin? I'll begin.
This is to be a blog of interesting proportions. I'm a 24-year-old living in the ever-bustling metropolis of Winnipeg, just as many of you may be. I was born with breasts and vulva, and have decided that I rather enjoy the ways in which they function. I call myself a woman, and am having a great time navigating the world with this identity.
Living as a sexual being in Winnipeg can be an interesting challenge. The sex world can be small in any city, let alone in ours. I'm here to provide you with information on what is available to Winnipeggers. From relationship advice to stories of my own experiences, this is the blog to go to.
I came into my sexual self while sitting in lecture halls and classrooms in Tier, Isbister, and St. Paul's – though let's face it, the hardest studying I did on the topic was conducted in arenas much darker, and with louder music. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Sociology, having done a lot of my studies in “feminist interest courses.” I put this in quotation marks because I'm still not quite sure what a feminist is, even though I consider myself one. I came to realize that women have a role as the sexual gatekeepers in society. Unfortunately, so fraught with the good-girl image, many women deny themselves information or experience. Shame, really. Men are often in the same boat, not finding ways to express themselves openly and seek information outside of familiar circles. What can I hope to offer? Openness! Oh so much.
Maybe you don't go to certain parties, or maybe you've got a few questions you've been pondering. Though I'm no a health expert, I've got a lot of "interesting" experiences under my belt that could shed some light where the sun may not generally shine. Mainly, I'll be commenting on the social bits of being sexually aware in Winnipeg today. Works? Works.
I hope that serves as a bit of an introduction to me. This blog? It's what you make of it. Feel free to email me with questions, comments, or just to say hello. I can be reached at sexblog@themanitoban.com. Anything you'd like me not to include in the blog should be marked as such. I'll never use your real name and will make up a pen name for you if you haven't already. If you'd like me to cover your event or party, let me know. I'm always into expanding my horizons.
