News volunteering
Why Volunteer?
The newsroom at the Manitoban is a quick paced and friendly environment that provides a training ground for young journalists. As a volunteer you will learn about the key elements of a news story, learn how to write articles using Canadian Press style and build valuable skills that you can apply in the future and everyday. The editors at the Manitoban work to teach reporters valuable skills that can be applied in any newsroom. You’ll learn to perform interviews, build relationships with important sources, communicate efficiently with the design side of the paper and learn to work under pressure to meet deadlines. The Manitoban is a great place to learn and we hope you swing by the newsroom and say hi and maybe write a story or two.
