Features volunteering

About Kevin

Hey guys, my name is Kevin Schulz and I am the Manitoban’s features editor for this new 2009-2010 year, my second year writing for the paper. For nearly a century, the Manitoban has been a key source of news, entertainment and topical discussion for the students at the University of Manitoba. The beautiful thing about the features section is that the themes and content are generally open-ended and always up for discussion, so if you feel like you have something great to contribute, we will find a way to incorporate it.

Why volunteer

While I love to write, the features section simply could not function without volunteer contributions from people like you. For those of you who are new to journalism and print media, the thought of putting your work or opinions out in the public world may be daunting at first. However, the overwhelming sense of pride that comes from seeing your article in print is unrivaled. If you have a great idea for a piece, if you want to give the whole writing thing a shot, or if you just want to find out more about us, then feel free to give me a shout at 474-6770 or drop by our office at 105 University Centre. I would love to hear from you!

How to volunteer

The features section will run every third issue in the paper. We will include articles that revolve around a central theme in hopes of providing in depth coverage of all the angles.

If you have an idea for a special feature, or if you would like to find out about upcoming special features, email, phone, or come by the office.
