Dreamy indie rock outfit Living Hour is set to perform Sept. 9 at the Good Will Social Club alongside artists Lev Snowe and Charlie Baby. Living Hour will be recording an album at the end of the summer and though they are leaders in their respective genre locally, they are hoping to develop a more mature sound with their upcoming record.

We have been categorized as dream Pop, shoegaze, psychedelic pop, but with our new album we will be unveiling a more mature sound in which we have melded a bunch of different influences to create a sonically diverse and unique vibe,” said guitarist Gil Carroll.

We are going to be debuting a bunch of brand new songs at this show” he added.

The current line-up consists of Sam Sarty, lead vocals, keyboard, trombone; Gil Carroll, guitar; Adam Soloway, guitar, vocals; Alex Chochinov, drums, trumpet; and Natalie Bohrn, bass.

Sarty’s vocal performance has an operatic style and is perfectly balanced  with relaxing and captivating melodies that are precise with intention and instrumentation. Living Hour has a truly mesmerizing live performance as the roster is filled with talented local musicians that also play in Winnipeg bands like Palm Trees, Odd Outfit, Slow Spirit, and Veneer.

Living Hour’s Winnipeg performances have been limited by extensive touring over the past few years in support of their self titled debut album.

Five US tours, many Canadian tours, one European, and one UK tour later, Living Hour is set to record their sophomore album with a Kurt Feldman, a talented producer that has worked with some respected names in music, including Chairlift, Dum Dum Girls, DIIV, and the Pains of Being Pure at Heart.

The last time local fans have been able to enjoy the sweet sound of Living Hour was headlining at Big Fun Festival in January,  so the show is sure to be filled with fans itching to get their ears on some new tunes.

“The writing on our new album was a lot more collaborative,” said Carrol, “which has been a wonderful process and has allowed us to write our best songs yet.”
