In what should have been an easy game for the University of Manitoba Bisons men’s volleyball team,, the herd got complacent and lost to a Trinity Western side who are sitting in sixth place in the Canada West standings. The Bisons had their four game win streak snapped with the loss and will hope to bounce back against the Spartans on Saturday.

Trinity Western broke a four game losing streak with the win, helping stop their skid into the basement of the Canada West Standings.

Despite the loss, Devren Dear once again put on a marvelous performance, registering 23 kills. Dear also led the herd with 10 digs, with . Dear is averaging 4.21 kills per set, placing him fifth in Canada in that category.

Setter Luke Herr led everyone on the court with 50 assists. He averages 10.8 assists a set this season which is good for third best in the conference.

Manitoba also managed just two service aces on the night, in comparison to Trinity’s six.

Despite the lopsided score line, the game was fairly tight. The Spartans only outscored Manitoba by five points on the night. The herd attempted to mount a comeback after winning the third set but after a heartbreaking fourth set saw the herd lose by just two points.

The Bisons have a short turnaround and will get their chance for revenge on Saturday at 3pm at the Investors Group Athletic Centre.
