Bison men’s hockey loses Alberta rematch 4-0

After dropping their first game 5-0, the Bisons have moved to 0-2-0 in the  2013-14 season, suffering  a second shutout loss to the Alberta Golden Bears. Undisciplined play resulted in two 10-minute misconducts as the Bisons were outshot 32–16. Taylor Dickin led the Bisons with five shots.

The Bisons hope to bounce back against the Saskatchewan Huskies (1-1-0) on Oct. 11 and 12 at the newly named Wayne Fleming Arena.

Bison women’s hockey splits road series to open season

Playing against the Alberta Pandas, the Bison women are 1-1-0 after losing their first game of the season 5-1 and bouncing back for a gritty 1-0 win the following evening.

In the win, a power play early in the second period allowed Brenley Anderson to score the only goal of the game. Dée Ana Marion earned her second shutout as a Bison.

The Bisons will travel to Saskatoon to play the Saskatchewan Huskies on Oct. 11 and 12.
