Folk Festival blog entry 3: Friday, July 9, 2010

It’s day three and the viscosity of the crowds are starting to increase. The sun was beaming down like a spotlight on the festival all day. Water and sunburns were certanly the order of the day. How inviting does the hammock district sound about now?

The musical highlight of the day was definitely Canadian artist Kinnie Starr. Poetic and unapologetic, connecting love and the land, as well as identity and sexuality, she is a creative tempest whose honesty is passionately real.

And how about that food? With guerilla kitchens manifesting in the campgrounds and volunteers raving about their backstage meals, the emphasis on delicious quality has made food a key ingredient at Folk Fest. And after trying hemp milk for the first time, I am a believer.
