Why doesn’t Canada have a pharmacare plan? Some of Winnipeg’s premier social thinkers are on it— including U of M prof Robert Chernomas, Social Planning Council director Wayne Helgason and Donna Chamagne, Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health.

“Members include: Anyone who’s ever had a broken heart,” according to her MySpace.com page. Is this true? Find out for yourself.

7. Junto Spelling Bee and Dinner
Dec. 9, 6-11 p.m., Mondragon, $10 dinner, $5 show
Being an anarchist is c-o-o-l, cool! Vegan lasagna at 6 p.m., followed by two local acts — Smash! Makhno! Smash! and Tandeem — with what I’m sure is to be a wholesome, old-fashioned spelling bee in the mix. Junto is Winnipeg’s anarchist library, if you were wondering.

Happy-to-be-glum, childlike chamber pop from Montreal, and with a member of Bell Orchestre and Arcade Fire (Pietro Amato).

Featuring the Experiences, Astronaut Jones and the Dirty Sweethearts. That’ll get you in the holiday spirit!
