Three Bison football players named All-Canadians
Three members of the Bison football team have been named to the CIS All-Canadian teams. Defensive linemen Justin Cooper and Simon Patrick were named first-team All Canadians, while defensive back Brady Browne was named a second-team All-Canadian.
Cooper, who was named the Canada West most outstanding lineman, had his best year playing for the black and gold. He finished the regular season with seven sacks, 34 tackles (10 for losses), and two pass breakups.
This the third consecutive year Patrick was recognized as an All-Canadian. He finished the year with 22 tackles (four for losses) and one sack.
This was Browne’s first All-Canadian honour. He had a terrific year patrolling the secondary for the Bisons. He had 24 tackles, six pass breakups, and two interceptions during the regular season.
Howard and Voth named Bison Sports Athletes of the Week
Mike Howard of the football team and Ashley Voth of the women’s volleyball team have been named the Bison Sports Athletes of the Week, for the week ending Nov. 25.
This is Howard’s second consecutive week as Bisons Sports male athlete of the week. He earns the honour this week for his three-interception performance against the University of Saint Mary’s Huskies, which helped the Bisons football team capture the Vanier Cup.
Voth captures the female athlete of the week honours for her work in helping the women’s volleyball team sweep their weekend series against the No.3-ranked University of Calgary Dinos. Over the two games, Voth tallied 16 kills and 15 digs.
