The Manitoban Thanks You

We have come to the final Manitoban of the year. Our sincerest thanks goes out to everyone who took the time to peruse the pages of the paper throughout the year. The number of letters to the editor, casual comments, compliments and complaints signify to me that students are taking an interest in the goings on of the University of Manitoba. There have been a number of issues debated over the course of the 2006-07 term: from food services, to the place of religion in society, to the war in Afghanistan, to the pros and cons of tuition increases to the role of the administration and the student union, and of course the role of the Manitoban. Debate is healthy for any constituency and we hope that it continues in the years ahead.

Incoming editor-in-chief Tessa Vanderhart and incoming managing editor Rob MacEachern will be assuming duties May 1 and the Manitoban returns June 20. Editorial positions for the 2007-2008 publishing year have been posted (see page six). Tessa and Rob encourage any and all those interested in working for the Manitoban to apply.

The Manitoban would like to especially thank the dozens of volunteers who have contributed articles, photos and artwork over the year. Without their contributions the paper could not be possible. Their names are listed below.

And finally I would like to thank the staff at the Manitoban. Despite being often overworked and underpaid, and often having a multitude of other commitments such as school and other jobs, their commitment to the paper has remained consistent throughout the year.

Sincerely,

Carson Jerema
