Toban Talkback

How would you describe this year at the U of M? What are you looking forward to next year and what are your summer plans?

Lindsay Stangl
U1

It was different then I was expecting. I just came out of high school last year and I expected it to be a little more challenging then it was. Next year I’m looking forward to continuing German studies and finding my major. This summer I’ll be working and hopefully will get the chance to get away, at least for a little while.

Devi Goberdhan
Fourth-year graduate of arts

This year was really busy. I’m a pre-master student and although I’ve graduated I’ve been really focused on studying. I’m looking forward to starting my graduate studies and finishing school a lot. This summer will be a good time to let my mind rest and take a breather.

Duncan Farthing-Nichol

This year went fairly well I guess. It’s my first year so I was just starting to get a feel for things and start to figure out where I want to go with my degree. Next year I’m looking forward to more specific courses and developmental things I’m interested in. Summer plans include working and learning French hopefully.

Janessa Berti
Second-year science

I don’t know — stressful? It was long and I can honestly say I’m really glad it’s over. Next year I’m taking more driven courses like zoology and chemistry so maybe I’ll focus and do a little better — maybe actually buckle down a bit. This summer I’ll be working and taking a few courses.

Melissa Hlushko
Second-year arts

For me, this year was pretty easy. I applied for architecture last year and didn’t get in so I was just taking a few classes and applied again this year. I really hope I get into my faculty and if I don’t I might just take a year off since I don’t have a back up plan as of yet. This summer I have a wedding to go to and hope to get to the beach and stuff like that.

Kyle Kimelman
Third-year arts

It was pretty good. I didn’t take as many courses so it was a little lighter, little easier and had a fun time. Next year I’m going into law school so I’m looking forward to undertaking that grave challenge. This summer I’m going to the Dominican Republic and Disneyland — and of course working a lot to pay for both trips.
