This term is over at the Manitoban but the news has not stopped.
The 2007 provincial budget has been released, leaving UMSU and CFS representatives pleased. What was supposed to be a five per cent increase in funding to post-secondary education was upgraded to a seven per cent increase, meaning more support for Manitoba’s universities and colleges.
U of M students have been busy cutting their hair for cancer at this year’s Cuts for Cancer drive. Asper students have also just walked away with a $10,000 prize for winning a business pitch contest in the back of a limo, driving around a racetrack.
In other news, thousands of aspiring med-students were unable to register for their preferred date of the MCAT in August due to a new computerized system being overwhelmed by everyone registering at once. Registration was temporarily put on hold but will begin again on April 11.
No need to worry. The Manitoban will be back in all of its glory in June, so you won’t have to miss us for too long.
Happy studying to all and to all a good summer!
