The Toban quickie

News in 30 seconds or less

JENELLE PETRINCHUK STAFF

The big news all over Canada is the release of the federal budget. While the government plans on spending millions of dollars over the next year, the Toban has coverage on what that means for university students.

At the U of M specifically, students have the opportunity to receive free help when filing their taxes, thanks to UMSU, and are also being given the chance to pay off their library fines in food instead of cash. That may be helpful to certain residence students who are currently voicing their opinions about the high cost of living in residence this year.

Bringing a little bit of the arts to the news section this week, both the slashing of a piece of art work on campus and the historical inaccuracies of the much talked-about film 300 are examined. If you haven’t seen it yet, it may be part of your history class one day, so you better get down to the theatre for some research and a head start on your fall course load.
