Toban Talkback - Bus passes in student fees?

Do you think bus passes should be included in your student fees at a further reduced rate?

That’s a tough one because I live out of town, but I would have to say no. As a student that drives in daily we don’t get any tax breaks or any benefits from campus in terms of government funding for reducing gas taxes or anything like that. It would seem unfair that we don’t receive any funding, but would have to be contributing to someone else’s.

I don’t take the bus, so I wouldn’t find it useful. So I would have to say no, because you shouldn’t punish some people by increasing their fees for something they are never ever going to use.

I think it would be good if you took the bus all the time. The passes are pretty cheap already but cheaper is always better. I do think it should be optional though, for students like myself who don’t ride the bus that frequently.

Yes! I take the bus everyday and it’s expensive. It would help out a lot if they could further discount the prices and make it part of the tuition fees. It would be more convenient and as a student I don’t have much money to spread around.

Mandatory? Well that would depend what the percentage of students taking the bus to school. I think if the majority of the student body is using the transit system it would be favourable. Busing is easier on the road because it cuts down on the congestion and of course is more environmentally friendly, so it might be a good move.
