The Toban thanks you
As our 2005-06 publishing year draws to a close, the Manitoban wishes to express tremendous gratitude to those who gave of their time to the paper. To anyone who contributed to the Manitoban this year in the way of writing, photography, artwork, comics, diversions, news tips, letters to the editor, or even sending in complaints, we thank you for making the effort to get involved, even if only in a seemingly small way.
We would also like to acknowledge those volunteers who dedicated larger portions of their time to the paper, and we extend our congratulations to our Volunteer of the Year, Andrew Lodge.
In spite of the fact that he is an undoubtedly busy medical student, Andrew managed to contribute in a big way to the paper, writing several features and interviewing such prominent figures as Noam Chomsky.
We would also like to acknowledge our three runners-up for Volunteer of the Year: Chris Simonite, Shawna Sweeney and Derek Law, whose efforts we valued immensely.
Beyond that, wed like to acknowledge and thank each and every volunteer that made a contribution this year, and the following is a list of those individuals, in no particular order:
Jason Gulay, Brendan Boyd, Laura Blakely, Chris Simonite, Marc LaCasse, Andrew Lodge, Will Octagon Gibson, Ryan Polinsky, Signe Knuston, Bryan Peeler, Shawna Sweeney, Darryl Nanka, Dan Bockstael, Timothy Schwinghamer, Bram Adey, Ryan Hladun, Saisaku Ikeda, Scott Stephens, Davidson Falade, David Orchard, Vito Sutanto, Warren Britton, Joel Trenaman, Christen Roos, Troy Stozek, Linda West, Dylan Ferguson, Michael Elves, Alex A. I would also like to extend a tremendous thank-you to every one of my colleagues here at the paper. There is not a lot of glamour involved with working for the Toban: our staff is generally underpaid and overworked, but they do what they do because its a labour of love, so thanks to each of you for your admirable dedication and hard work.
I said it at the beginning of the year, and Ill say it again: the Manitoban only has the potential to grow and improve as student involvement increases, so keep that in mind when youre deciding what to do with your extra-curricular time and energy in the fall.
Thanks for reading the Toban, and have a great summer!
