Toban Talkback Summer Edition

Andrew Sain Staff

Blair Hamm
University 1

Is there any particular exam that you’re dreading?

“Critical thinking — it’s the hardest class for me.”

What were your favourite and least favourite courses this past year?

“My favourite was psychology and my least favourite was critical thinking. I just am more of an arts person than a formulas person, and critical thinking is formulas.”

How are you planning to celebrate the last day of classes?

“Watching a movie with my parents.”

What are your plans for the summer?

“Working . . . maybe travelling a little [to] Alberta”

Theo Janke
Second-year engineering

Is there a particular exam that you’re dreading?

“Statistics, which I’m studying right now. I didn’t do too well on the midterm so I have to do well on the final.”

What was your favourite and least favourite course this past year?

“My favourite was a Roman [Civilization] class that I’m taking for general interest, and least favourite was statistics. [Roman Civ] had a good [professor], probably one of the best that I’ve had, and when you’re interested in the material it makes it much better.”

How are you planning to celebrate the last day of class?

“I don’t have any plans yet.”

What are your plans for the summer?

“Working, and I’m taking two courses in the evening . . . two math courses.”

Derek Jones
Second-year arts

Is there a particular exam that you’re dreading?

“No, not really. I have a sociology one coming up that’s a requirement for getting into education so I’m not really looking forward to that one.”

What was your favourite and least favourite course this past year?

“Favourite would have to be American history and least favourite would be sociology. America’s a pretty interesting country. . . . There was a good professor and a good class.”

How are you planning to celebrate the last day of classes?
“I’ll probably go out tonight, have a couple drinks or something. [I’ll] probably go out on the weekend too.”

What are your plans for the summer?

“I’m going to be working full time painting houses and that’s about it. Maybe [I’ll] get back to my hometown . . . Fort Frances, Ontario.”

Rebecca Chambers
Third-year arts

Is there any particular exam that you’re dreading?

“I’m dreading my Shakespeare exam. I’m not doing very well in the class right now and my teacher is a really hard marker so I’m very afraid for that.”

What was your favourite and least favourite course that you had this past year?

“My least favourite class was probably my Shakespeare class because it’s so hard. I’m in English and I really like taking classes like this but it’s just really not what I thought it would be; we didn’t look at things as in-depth as I thought we would, so I’m kind of disappointed with it.”

How are you planning to celebrate the last day of classes?

“I’m probably going to go home and just chill out, relax, and then probably go out later. Probably go out and then study for the rest of the weekend.”

What are your plans for the summer?

“I’m staying in Winnipeg actually. I’m not from here — I’m from out of province, so I’m staying here this summer working, trying to find a place.”
