Genser competition finals
Faculty of music students will be battling it out during the annual Lawrence Genser Competition. Now in its 24th year, the competition will present its final round at Eva Clare Hall on Fri. Feb. 24, beginning at 7 p.m.. Violinist Albert Bergern, viola musician Sara Cole, vocalist Sarah Halmarson, pianist Christopher Kayler and flutist Cassandra Lapsley will be competing for two prizes: $1500 for first place and $900 for second place. The public is welcome to attend the performance, which is free of charge.
GOSA presents photo showcase
The Gallery of Student Art (GOSA) is showcasing the works of photographer Patrick McNeill, as well as the work of the U of M Photo Club for the first time. Entitled Selected Exposures, the exhibition features over 60 colour and black and white photographs. There is a reception on Fri. Feb. 24 at 3 p.m.. Selected Exposures runs until Feb. 24.
Fine Art Collective 26
Whats in a name, right? Well, the Winnipeg art collective known as 26/Two-Sicks/Too-Six the name can be pronounced various ways has its very first museum exhibition, at Gallery One One One. 26 includes artists Ian August, Shaun Morin, Mélanie Rocan, Cyrus Smith, Fred Thomas, DJ Brace (Mike Topf), David Wityk and others. Projected images of the group by William Eakin are also featured in the show. The 26 show runs until March 10 at Gallery One One One, located on the main floor of the FitzGerald Building.
