A lot of singers, like Mick Jagger, for example, are always singing about making “sweet love” or about making love in general. So what exactly do musicians prefer to have playing on their stereos when they’re getting ready to be touched in that special way? Well, the Manitoban decided to investigate and asked musicians to name two songs they think people should make love to.

Oderus Urungus
Lead singer of GWAR

  1. The sound the Grand Canyon made when it was created
  2. The Jesus Christ Superstar soundtrack

Steve Pitkin
Percussionist of Elliott BROOD

Albums over singles [for] obvious reasons.

  1. Roxy Music’s Avalon (This one worked for me for over 10 years).
  2. Dan Lanois’ Belladonna (Sweet dreams).
  3. Ahmed Jamal’s Live at the Pershing (Mmmmmm).

Luke Doucet

  1. (Waltz #2) XO by Elliott Smith
  2. Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin (If you are 16).

Mark Sasso

Banjo player and guitarist-vocalist of Elliott BROOD

  1. The Dead Man soundtrack (The whole soundtrack. Why? You’d have to find that out for yourself).
  2. “Sunday Morning” by the Velvet Underground (Why? What else could be better on a Sunday morning?).

NQ Arbuckle:

  1. “Svenf-G-Englar” by Sigur Rós (One cannot help but be completely swept away by these sexy, sexy elves, even in public).
  2. “Oh, Alberta” by Elliott BROOD (Oooh Alberta. I would like to put forward that this song lays out a sexy road map of this great country of ours (for those who can read between the lines). I am not entirely sure, however, that this song would be a good one to make love to).

Shane Smith
Bassist and vocalist of the Perms

  1. “Me So Horny” by 2 Live Crew (The title of this song says it all! Legend has it that Luke Campbell wrote this song for his girlfriend as a Valentine’s Day gift. And I’m glad he did. Thanks for saving my relationship 2 Live Crew!).

Chad Smith
Guitarist and vocalist of the Perms

  1. “Colour My World” by Chicago
  2. “Let There Be Love” by Oasis

(These love anthems will put any guy or girl in the mood. Any song with a flute solo. “Colour My World” is guaranteed to make you feel frisky. Just be prepared to hum along to these catchy tunes while you’re making out).
